XVRs are essentially a hybrid DVR’s that can do record multiple formats and accept a variety of cameras using different signal formats at once. XVR Recorders will generally do all common HD over COAX formats, as well as supporting IP Cameras.
This adds an significant dimension to standard recorders and delivers an unmatched flexibility.
Upgrading Existing System
- If you already have a DVR with legacy Analog or HD Analog Cameras, replacing it with an XVR will provide more upgrade solution options without having to replace existing equipment.
- If the DVR or internal hard drive need replacing, it is a good time to consider upgrading to a new XVR system.
- XVRs also provide flexibility in that you can use existing coax cable for cameras or add CAT6 cables for IP cameras and some also allow wifi cameras. Flexibility and scalability are good options to have.
- If you already have a 8 Channel DVR with a few HD 1080P or 2MP cameras, and you want to add higher resolution cameras or IP cameras. The need for higher resolution is a common one.
- Instead of replacing the whole system, begin with replacing the DVR with one that accepts higher resolutions then add a few new cameras to the existing system or replace ones in key areas.
